About the Job
As a Backend Developer in the Automation – Edge Application team, you will contribute to building our customer facing applications that are used every day to control some of the world’s largest ships.
As our engine is the prime mover of the ship, stability, security and safety are our utmost priority, and thus we place a strong emphasis on code quality and cyber security throughout the development process.
You will play an important role in
You will work closely with colleagues from various teams to identify the best approach to the task at hand and be responsible for the design, implementation and testing - as well as deployment.
The development tasks could range from improving existing components, strengthening cybersecurity through fuzzing, firewall hardening and whitelisting, to defining and implementing integrations between our backend protocols and user-facing applications.
It will also include troubleshooting issues reported from the field, including collecting and analyzing logs and debugging software to help identify appropriate solutions, such as workarounds, patches, or new software releases.
More specifically, you will, as our new Backend Developer be:
- Developing various backend services in C++.
- Have a high focus on cybersecurity and be essential in ensuring the integrity of our system
- This includes implementing cryptography in various products. - Contribute across the product lifecycle, from architecture and development through to deployment and operations.
Collaborate with colleagues across product teams within our Automation organisation, working alongside more than 150 software developers.

On a more professional level, we imagine that you:
- Have experience developing in C++
- Have an understanding of software requirements in industrial systems.
- Have experience implementing cybersecurity requirements incl. Standards such as NIST2, IEC62443 or similar.
- Are comfortable building code to be executed cross platforms (Windows and Linux)
- Have knowledge and experience with Cryptography and PKI infrastructure
- Have experience implementing interfaces and protocols such as REST and MQTT.
Have a master's degree in software engineering or other relevant education
About the team
You will be joining the Edge Application team based in Copenhagen. The team consists of around 20 colleagues across 3 product teams. The team develops and maintains the Edge Application platform ensuring quality, security, safety and operability of the control system that is used for controlling the main engine of a ship.
In addition to the Copenhagen team, you will collaborate with colleagues in India who contribute to software development and testing, including functional and security testing.
